CARPET FAQ'S

Is 100% wool carpet better than a synthetic carpet?

Traditionally, synthetic fibres such as nylon have been associated with the lower end of the market. That time has well and truly past. Innovations in fibre technology have seen the introduction of soft and luxurious synthetic carpet options. Triexta, Solution dyed nylon & Polyester, all provide excellent stain resistant.  The luxury of 100% wool carpet offers a natural product with environmental benefits. Drop into Eastern Flooring Solutions and ask our customer service team about the benefits of each of these fibres.

Is 100% wool carpet better than a synthetic carpet?

Triexta carpet is the next generation carpet. Made from Corn Sugar and nylon, it is naturally very stain resistant. Therefore, many spills can be cleaned with only water. The reason for its natural stain resistance is the fibre is hydrophobic, meaning that is doesn’t absorb moisture. The Triexta fibre will also resist fading, so exposure to direct sunlight will not discolour the fibre.  The fibre is made up from corn sugar and nylon providing an environmental advantage using fewer chemicals to produce the fibre.  Our Triexta Eco+ range offers a lifetime stain and soil guarantee along with a 25 year wear and colourfast guarantee.  Visit Eastern Flooring Solutions and ask our friendly staff about their experience with the beautiful Triexta range.

Weekly vacuuming will maintain the look and extend the life of your carpet. All carpet fibres can stain especially if spills are left for long periods. We recommend getting to them ASAP. Remove the solids with a spoon, then with some paper towel blot (do not scrub) from the outer edge of the spill working your way into the centre of the spill.  No carpet is 100% stain proof so acting quickly on spills will minimise permanent damage.  Solution Dyed Nylon and Triexta carpets will minimise stains from spillages and soiling but we recommend you treat as you would any other spillage. Wool carpets don’t hold strong stain resistance, so we’d recommend attending to spills right away. An upright vacuum cleaner with a beater brush is best for cut pile and twist pile carpets.   For loop pile carpets use a cylinder cleaner with no beater brush. Brushing the surface can cause pilling in loop piles.
