Overview

What Is Vinyl Flooring?

Vinyl is a durable, practical flooring option for many residential and commercial environments. It is supplied as sheet and as luxury vinyl plank.

Luxury vinyl plank is available in direct-stick, loose-lay and click-system formats, depending on the product and application.

Sheet vinyl is supplied in wide rolls and can minimise joins. The final system may still require seams, coving, sealed penetrations and appropriate substrate preparation.

We supply vinyl from Armstrong, Polyflor, Ornato, Terra Mater and Airstep. Wet-area suitability depends on the selected system.

Why this floor

Why Vinyl

Vinyl is chosen for durability and moisture resistance. The right format depends on the room and the installation specification.

Moisture Resistance, Specified Per Product

Vinyl products can provide strong moisture resistance, but wet-area suitability depends on the product, substrate, seams, perimeter treatment and installation specification.

Sheet and Plank Formats

Sheet vinyl can minimise joins. Luxury vinyl plank is available in direct-stick, loose-lay and click-system formats, depending on the product and application.

A Durable Practical Floor

Vinyl is a durable, practical flooring option for many residential and commercial environments.

Comfort Compared with Tile

Resilient vinyl is often warmer and quieter underfoot than ceramic tile. The feel depends on the product and what is underneath it.

One point of contact for the whole job.

Eastern Flooring Solutions handles the job from choosing the product and measuring through to installation and anything that comes up afterwards. If our own team or an installation partner does the work, you still deal with EFS. We warranty the installation and the materials.

Questions

FAQs - Vinyl Flooring Melbourne

Is vinyl waterproof, and can it go in bathrooms?

Vinyl products can provide strong moisture resistance, but wet-area suitability depends on the product, substrate, seams, perimeter treatment and installation specification. Water may still affect adhesives, substrates, walls and adjoining construction even if the vinyl product itself is impervious.

What's the difference between sheet vinyl and vinyl plank?

Sheet vinyl is supplied in wide rolls and can minimise joins. The final system may still require seams, coving, sealed penetrations and appropriate substrate preparation. Luxury vinyl plank is available in direct-stick, loose-lay and click-system formats, depending on the product and application.

How is vinyl different from hybrid flooring?

Hybrid has a rigid core and is generally not recommended for bathrooms or continuously wet areas. Vinyl can provide strong moisture resistance, but only the selected system (product, substrate and installation) determines where it can be used.

Is vinyl a practical choice for rental properties?

Vinyl is a durable, practical flooring option for many residential applications, including some investment properties. The format should match the expected use and any wet areas.

Can vinyl be installed over existing tiles or flooring?

Grout lines, lippage, movement and texture can telegraph through resilient flooring and may require grinding, smoothing or a levelling compound. We’ll confirm this at the measure. Preparation is quoted separately.

Do you remove old flooring?

Removal and disposal are quoted by flooring type and may exclude asbestos-containing materials, contaminated materials or unforeseen substrates.

What's covered under warranty?

Contact EFS first and we will assess the issue, coordinate the appropriate inspection and explain the applicable product or workmanship warranty process. Manufacturer warranties vary by product and are subject to their published terms.
